What We Do
Each Wednesday, HSH meets for two hours at the Rural Hall Christian Church.
The group is made up of families from 10+ different communities and various churches in the area. We come together for the same purpose: To help one another bring up our children in the Lord (Ephesians 6:1-4).
When you arrive, enter through the main doors at the front. We begin in the sanctuary on the upper level with Chapel. In this period, announcements are shared, the Pledge of Allegiance is said, prayers are offered, Scripture is read, and we sing fun songs with guitar.
After Chapel students go to Class. The classes are divided by grade levels and are taught by volunteers who are HSH parents or local leaders such as pastors, business owners, and other professionals. We teach fun, educational lessons to supplement the core curriculum being taught at home.
The last period of the afternoon is Recess. During this time, students are encouraged to socialize. There are game rooms with foosball tables, air hockey, and ping pong. Lots of board games and other indoor activities are available for the kids to play. The toddlers and smaller kids have a large, carpeted playroom with toys. Oftentimes, parents take groups outside to hang out under the pavilion or to enjoy on the playground.
Parents are required to stay onsite, in the building to actively help supervise the students.
There are parties and field trips planned throughout the year. A History Fair is hosted in the fall and a Science Fair in the spring. Other fun activities are added at different times.
